The pool

It has been great having the pool for the children (and me!) to play in, but it requires different chemicals to stay clean.'

When we bought the pool we also got a chemical kit for the upkeep.

I forgot to pick up a dispenser for the chlorine and have been searching and searching and searching for one ever since.

Today we went to four different stores and no one had anything in stock.

I'm going to go search on eBay for one, enough is enough.

Never shop on a Tuesday

Every two weeks, the Saturday after Payday, we do our grocery shopping. With the exception of necessities, like milk and gas, we do not purchase things other than on grocery day.

Because of the planned camping trip, we had to postpone our shopping until today. Tuesday.

Never, EVER shop on a Tuesday.

Apparently stores get stock in on Wednesdays, so we were unable to get a lot of what was on our list.

And that sucks. I wont go in twice for it, now it will have to wait for a week and a half, until the next scheduled trip.

well.here I am

Do I get a gold star? Or at the very least a cookie?

Our super fun exciting waited all year long for it vacation was a bust.

I can;t get into it as of yet, but there will be ranting and raving to come, let me tell ya!

I'm so upset. For me, as well as for the kidlets.

We told them and worked them up and built this camping trip up so hugely for them, and then BAM! it was done and gone.

Tics me the hell off!

I guess I have to unpack the suitcases and try to make some headway in the mess on my kitchen table, but we are home.

Sigh.

WOOHOO

We are just about to head out the door for our vacation!

The clothes and food are packed

I'm so excited I could pee!

hey cool

So about two weeks ago I got my new ipod int eh mail, which by the way, i LOVE. the only problem is that my husband also loves it, but we listen to entirely different types of music.

It was beginning to be a huge hassle for me to plug it in and find his music and have to take it all off and put mine back on.

So.

I just bought a new iPod from eBay. YAY

Plus I got it for just a cheap as the last one!

AND it's blue, which is the color I originally wanted!

I rock!

Pool Problems

So we set up the pool and started swimming. well not quite we had to add algaecide or something, and something called platinum shock and wait and hour and then chlorine tablets in a floater thingamajig. then we started swimming,

The pool has a filter thingy that we are only supposed to use eight hours at a time and only when no one is in the pool.

So what I am wondering is, do we test the water daily with those little test strip thingys and adjust the chemicals accordingly, or do we just do like the box and test every week and and add the chemicals then?

I'm not sure if the water is cloudy becuase of the grass and such the boys drag in - I spent an hour this morning scooping out grass with a bug net. Its actually very relaxing.. or if the water is cloudy becuase we need to do other chemical thingys.

And what exactly is the filter for? Why cant we have it going at all times? If the filter is supposed to take out the grass and crap, then i need something or someone in it to be moving the water around because it all seems to sit at the bottom of the pool.

However, the top 12 inches looks awesome!

I'm very very new to the pool thingy, we never had more than paddling pools as kids, and this is the first pool we have ever owned as a family now that is big enough to merit chemicals and filter stuff.

Help a girl out, I know a lot of you peeps have pools!

I have a plan

In regards to our camping snafu, we have decided to just go and stay in the over flow part of the campground. Sure it doesnt have electricity which means OMG no coffee. And that concerns me a little bit, but we are only staying two nights.

Friday, by the time we get there, we will have time to set up camp and make supper and then it will be dark, so no need for shade there, eh?

Im sooooo looking forward to burnt marshmallows!

Saturday we will be at the pool all day, and we will have shade there (there are no trees in overflow camping, you just get a spot of grass and dirt.) The pool area has lots of trees for shade, so we are good for then. And of course we will have even more marshmallows on Saturday night, cus OMG marshmallows are my first true love!

Sunday we have to check out by noon, but we will stick around for a round or two of mini golf and head home.

Since we won't be there long, only one full day, we don;t really have to have the bestest campsite, do we?

Aside from the whole I WON'T GET COFFEE FOR TWO AND A HALF DAYS! part, it should be fun!

Employee relations

I just heard that tomorrow we will have temperatures exceeding 120.

exceeding.

I'm not worried about me, because I will just run over to my in laws and drink coffee there all day in the nice air conditioned house.

I will be worrying over my husband as he is a welder. His work is always hot without adding the hugely horrid temperatures he will face tomorrow.

I feel bad for him, but tis not like he can just not go, you know? A job is a job.

When does it get too hot? When should employers start to think about their workers? For the majority of his plant, the workers will be hot, but for those poor poor welders, tomorrow will be pure hell.

I think its time that employers take into account the tpe of work being done, as well as the temperatures. At the very least they should be allowed more time to go get a drink of water to re hydrate themselves.

I'm going to be pretty mad if my husband comes home with heat stroke and cannot work the next day!

still too hot

So we have been working on the pool for almost two hours now. We were filling it up and left it to do its thing while we had supper. now my back yard is under a few inches of water and the pool is still not full!

ACK!

i guess it will all be worth it tomorrow when we can go in, but right now Im reconsidering the cash i laid out for it and the chemicals and the toys

Sigh

hot

I just got home from the city

We bought a pool. Its filling up right now and we have to figure out the chemicals to add.'

when we get it all ready, there WILL be pictures!

Also. Have i mentioned that its supposed to be in the mid ninety's all freaking weekend?

Questions!

hey. Do you people in the States get Spitz brand sunflower seeds or something else?

I am always wondering what foods you have and we don't and vice versa. My sister in law stalks up when she comes home for a visit!

I want a fudgesicle now. Do y'all have them?

too bad if you don't cus they rock!

Birthday Parties

We just came home from a birthday party.

I have always been skeptical of those little plastic walled pools with their tiny little filters.

I mean, how much fun can three kids have in that sized pool?

I found out tonight that they can actually have a lot of fun, and now the husband adn I are going to be seriously looking into purchasing one ( and a gazebo becuase I am not sitting in the heat all day watching them!) ((and I have to watch them, becuase as loud and annoying they are, they happen to be mine and I love them))

Why

Why do kids wake up cranky from naps?

In the afternoon it is impossible to deny that Stuperman needs a nap. He cries at the slightest thing! Oh look the cat is breathing his air, he is crying again!

So I put him down for a nap to make him feel better, but waking him up is my definition of hell on earth.

I'm not even sure that it is worth it to let him nap anymore, the only benefits can be seen for around half an hour, and thats just before bedtime!

Oye vey, but kids need a manual!

Where Was I?

I recently started a new blog with it's own domain. Using the new blogs link in posts and blogrolls will up it's page rank, which in turn makes it a more profitable blog.

I'm hoping that everyone who reads this will take the time to mention Where Was I? in a post, becuase those are the links that count the most. Also. If you could click real quick on this button and favorite Where was I? in technorati I would be ubber happy about that too!

If you have any blog building tips, please feel free to share them with me!

thanks a bunch!

Baby its hot outside!

Today we painted rocks. LOL does that sound redneck ish?

Too bad, it was fun, messy and a great activity to do int he somewhat coolness of the garage.

Didn't help much for Stuperman, he is lobster red. Again. I swear to god, i am going ot make him live in shirts for the rest of the summer, getting burnt ever second day cannot be good for his poor little back!

And the worst part is he never complains!

Bribery

I think My son is a whimp. I'm not positive, but so far, all the roads are leading to yes. Or. Myabe he just has an impossibly low pain threshold?

That can happen, right?

See the thing is. He has a tooth so loose it flops when he inhales and exhales. But he will not pull it out. Nor will he let us pull it. Or eat gum, apples, or basically anything with any resistance whatsoever.

He refused a Popsicle yesterday.

And yes it is rather important he get that tooth out. His adult tooth has come up Fully right behind it. And his dentist wants it out (she knows how loose it is) before his August the eighth appointment.

So we bought him a bribe.

He has been wanting these for a while, but we never took the time to go to a bike shop and pick them up. They aren't expensive, under fifteen bucks. We had planned on getting him them sometime during the summer, but time, it just seems to slip away.

In any case we bought them and this morning I laid them on the table. When Rainbow man saw them I said yes, they are his, But for when he gets that tooth out. If its today, tomorrow or next freaking year, thats how long he will have to wait.

Hopefully this will give him that last little push to get that thing out! (Without me driving him insane with pressure and him driving me insane with whining!)

Oh. in case you were wondering they are pegs to go on the back tires of your bicycle for tricks.

Chores for kids

Right now I have my Three year old in his room "cleaning" it. Some of the toys are actually ending up in his toy box, but I hear an awful lot of singing and laughing going on.

I would really like to get in there withe vacuum and be done for the day, but whats important is he is learning how to clean his room, even if it is slower than molasses!

I fi march in there and start helping, together we would have it done in less than five minutes. But. I'm lazy. and I did not make the mess!

So yes. I make my just turned three year old do house work, But I don;t think I am asking for much to have him pick up some toys and occasionally help set the kitchen table....

Right?

Last Night

I had just fallen asleep last night when the door bell rang. It woke both my husband And I up. My first thought was to tell my Husband he was naked and that was the door bell, to remind him to grab his house coat.

Then I started to worry about why the bell had rung. Was It the Boys?? Since Saturday night my kids have been sleeping at my In-Laws. Their cousin is there for the week. I was still trying to figure out what on earth could be wrong with the boys this late that they would come over first and not just call.

Then I remembered the lightning I saw flash before bed. The clocks had all been set back to 12:00. Our door bell has a function that when the power goes off, it does too. Its nice in a way, beucase it generally wakes us up so the Husband can re-set his alarm, but Since the power goes off here every second minute, it gets kind of annoying as well.

Ohwell. The boys ended up being OK, and I guess thats all that matters.

I'm going to have a nap now.

TaTa

Fine! I'm a baby!

Also. there is absolutely no chance of ever pleasing me.

Uhm. It's too hot now. Can I borrow your A/C?

PLEASE!

I really need to get into the back alley to whippersnip the weeds back there, and then use a shovel to smooth out the ground, but five minutes out there and I was dizzy and started to get a headache.

It's never just right for me, is it?

Sigh

You have to be kidding me

Based on the weather reports, my mother in law agreed to keep her five year old granddaughter at her place for a few days so that the boys and she could play together.

My mother in law loves to be busy so she planned full activities for all of the days. Today and tomorrow were supposed ot be picnic days at the out door pool in the city. But of course, here ocmes the rain to ruin everything! She decided that becuase there is only a 30% chance of rain today and a much larger one for thunderstorms tomorrow that they will go to the pool anyway.

(hey at least no one will be burnt at the end of the day PLUS if its a yucky day the pool is much less crowded!)

Anyway. yet another rant about the weather. I'm going to start categorizing this just so I can see how often I bitch about it!

Rodents

Today we had a gopher in the garage.

Normally, I am not scared of rats and mice and squirrels and gophers and whatever other four-legged critters hang out in the woods.

But this one was in MY garage. Why? there is no food for it, no where for it to dig. What was so special about MY garage that it had to come inside?

Have you any idea how noisy those things are? Their "bark" echoes so that you can;t properly locate them.

I was worried for my toes people! My toes! Danger!

Luckily for me, the gopher was deathly afraid of brooms and left his hidey-hole under the stairs to escape to the great outdoors where he belonged!

Here it is debating on whether he should eat my perfectly polished toes or not.

WOOT~

So today was our shopping trip. Remember, we only shop once every two weeks, unless it's milk or gas, if we run out or forgot something, too effin' bad. We had to pick up some chairs to take camping, ours died due to sun rot last summer, and we had been using the most gawd awful uncomfortable chairs!

So we pulled down the 9.97 chairs, just like the ones that died of sun rot, but these ones had wee tiny tables attached to them.

Me likey!

And then the husband pulled down the chairs with the 22.97 price tag. Oh no i said! I'm not paying 22 bucks when we can get these for ten.

But then I sat in them.

Omg. Nice.

Check dis sukah out!!

Have I mentioned I hate storms?

First, on Friday we had all the hail and wind and rain and ugg. it sucked.

I cannot sleep through a thunderstorm, i have to sit glued to the TVs weather channel just in case we get a tornado.

I can remember sitting in the basement when i was a kid, waiting out the tornado's. It wasn't fun.

now we have been alternately under a sever thunderstorm or a tornado watch all day.

It's very stressful to me, even though we have a custom made tornado hide hole that I keep stocked with pillows, blankets, flashlights and water. It's not fresh water, but i change it once a week.

I hate storms.

Monday Blahs

I seem to have a really big case of the Monday Blahs.

So bad, in fact, that I took BPR off air for a while. Probably just the day, but maybe a few days.

I'm finding it hard to come up with funny, meaningful posts.

Last night I put off posting till it was so late i was fuzzy with sleep trying to write my post.

And it shows.

A little break, from anything, always helps!

ITCH!

I just got a mosquito bite on my ankle.

I tell the kids not to scratch them so I am restraining myself. Barely.

It itches. Its red and swollen and ohmigawd!

Must. Not. Scratch!

HEY! does anyone have any home remedies for mosquito bites?Send them in!

Acts Of God

We have homeowners insurance, but I'm not sure it covers so called acts of god. Tornado, flood, forest fire etc.

What is the point of having insurance then? really! The only thin our insurance seems to protect us from is fire and vandalism. Oh and liability if someone is hurt on our property.

I am going to call our provider on Monday and find out what it will take to bump our coverage up. I would rather pay five hundred more a year if it means I'm not homeless in the case of a natural disaster!

Treasure Hunt

I want to do a treasure hunt with the two oldest children.

What I'm thinking is maybe ten clue cards. The first one I give them at the start of their journey. The first card will tell where to find the second clue and so on until they find their treasure.

My trouble is thinking of good places to hide the cards and then coming up with clues for them that are understandable to a seven and five year old.

The "treasure" will be the pail and bucket sets they will bring camping with us.

Any ideas floating out there you care to share?

Have you ever tried this type of thing?

Happy Birthday Me!

Today I am 28 years old.

That doesn't seem very old to me.

When do people start thinking, Oh! I'm old, I need to act my age?

My doctor said that when I hit thirty I will feel old, But I can't see it happening.

In any case, Come over to BPR and wish me a happy birthday!

(I'm having chocolate chocolate chip cake tonight)
